SUMMARY
Tussell is seeking a Data Administrator to help keep our database accurate, complete and useful. You will report to the Data Operations Manager and work as part of the wider Data Operations team.
This is a practical, hands-on data-processing role. You will work through a varied queue of recurring tasks, using our in-house processing application alongside Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and other tools.
The quality of our data is what sets Tussell apart. You will become an integral part of the team responsible for keeping it clean, well-connected and structured, helping us maintain the best data in the market and deliver the insight our customers rely on. As AI changes how businesses work with information, having high-quality, dependable underlying data matters more than ever.
The work is detailed and sometimes repetitive, so we are looking for someone who finds satisfaction in bringing order to complex information, spotting what is missing, and making a large body of data more dependable over time.
What matters most is that you are comfortable with data, willing to learn, and enjoy becoming excellent at the work. This role will suit someone who wants to become highly proficient in an important operational role.
ABOUT TUSSELL
Founded in 2015, Tussell is a founder-led and investor-backed tech scale-up based in London.
Tussell's vision is to be the definitive source of market intelligence on UK government contracts. In a climate of unprecedented government spending, our data helps companies to win more public contracts by making better commercial decisions. Our competitive edge is expressed through the richness and reliability of our data, and as a result, over the last decade, we have become the market's trusted source.
We strive to be a great business, and we're also proud to make a difference along the way. The enhanced transparency that Tussell fosters makes the government more accountable for spending decisions. It also helps to make public procurement more efficient and accessible, ultimately improving value for money in public services.
Tussell has an entrepreneurial culture and is focused on growing profitably through customer sales, rather than relying on successive rounds of venture capital funding. We have a dynamic, welcoming team of 40 employees, meaning we're small enough for you to know everybody's name.
THE ROLE
Our aim at Tussell is to give our customers the most complete and reliable view of UK public procurement. As a Data Administrator, you will play an important part in making that possible by improving the coverage, accuracy and quality of our data.
Collect, review, clean and upload data from a wide range of sources, ensuring our records are accurate and reflect the source data.
Match organisations and other entities across datasets, resolving duplicates and ensuring related data is correctly connected.
Investigate missing, incomplete or inaccurate data, enriching our records and identifying gaps to improve our coverage of the UK public procurement market.
Process new and updated data in a timely way, managing and prioritising a queue of recurring tasks and keeping clear records of work completed and issues requiring follow-up.
Support client data requests and data-quality projects, identifying recurring issues and contributing practical ideas for improving our data and processes.
ABOUT YOU
This role is for someone who wants to become an expert in Tussell’s niche, developing a deep understanding of our data and the public procurement market behind it. As your knowledge and judgment grow, you’ll become someone the team relies on to get our data right and take greater ownership of our data, processes and recurring workflows.
This is a career in data operations, rather than a stepping stone into data science, data engineering or analytics. It will suit someone who wants to build deep expertise, take ownership, and become a trusted member of the team.
You will enjoy structured, methodical work: facing a long list of tasks, working out the most effective order to tackle them, and making steady progress without losing sight of detail.
Highly organised, reliable and conscientious, with strong attention to detail.
A quick and effective learner, able to understand new data, systems and processes and apply that knowledge consistently.
Accurate and efficient, with good practical judgment about quality, impact and pace.
Curious and investigative when data does not look right.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a supportive, communicative team.
Confident using Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, particularly Google Sheets and Excel.
Open to new systems and ways of working, including AI and other emerging technologies.
Experience with SQL, UK public-sector procurement or large datasets would be helpful, but is not essential.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The starting salary is £32,000. Salaries are reviewed each December, once you've completed at least 12 months' service.
Benefits include:
Flexible remote working, with the option to use our Hoxton office whenever you prefer.
Annual leave of 25 days (not including public holidays), rising by one day per year up to a cap of 30 days.
A vibrant office in Hoxton with free perks like barista coffee and subsidised gym.

Cycle to work scheme.
An annual wellbeing budget of £200 (prorated).
